How To Apply Custom Leather Coating dye

STEP 1 — CLEAN & PREP Apply Leather Prep to remove dirt, oils, and previous leather-care products. Scrub the surface with a scrub pad, then wipe away any excess with a clean microfiber cloth.

STEP 2 — MIX & APPLY DYE Mix Tye Dye Elite with the recommended amount of Activator. Apply thin, even coats using a sponge or spray gun. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next for maximum adhesion and durability.

PRO TIPS 1. Keep the hair dryer moving and never touch the leather to avoid overheating or damaging the coating. 2. Use a hair dryer to remove small air bubbles when applying with a sponge. 3. A hair dryer can also help speed up drying between coats.

STEP 3 — APPLY TOP COAT Mix Top Coat with the recommended amount of Activator. Apply 2–3 thin, even coats to create a durable protective barrier over your newly colored leather.

Will the dye peel or crack?

No, its a very flexible coating that has been tested to exceed the automotive industry standards.

Can Custom Leather Coatings be applied with a spray gun?

Yes, it can be apply with a spray gun or a sponge.

Can I use acetone instead of leather prep?

Although Leather Prep and acetone can both be use for the same purpose. Acetone has much stronger chemicals that can harm the leather. so its recommended to use Leather Prep as it is a safer product. 

Will Custom Leather Coatings rub off on clothing?

No, If applied correctly, according to our instructions the color will not transfer in any condition.

How long do the coating last once applied?

The product is OEM grade which means that the coating is very durable and can withstand a high amount wear and tear. Just as your original coating you will eventually wear through the coating. Applying leather protection product from your local part store will help add to the overall durability giving the maximum protection available.

Can I use any plastic adhesion promoter?

NO, Only plastic adhesion promoter I recommend using is Lord Fuzor "surface modifier".

Is the custom leather Coatings water base or alcohol base?

Can I change black leather to a lighter color?

Yes. Major color changes may require a light/white base coat first to achieve the best color coverage.

Why is my dye not sticking?

Oils, dirt, conditioners, silicone products, or remaining factory coating can prevent proper adhesion.

Do I need a Top Coat?

Yes. Top Coat helps protect the new color from everyday wear and provides the final finish

How long should I wait before using the seats?

Allow the finished coating to cure for at least 24 hours before normal use.
